Description
Wow! Wood foundry gear pattern in it's original shipping crate. We carefully un-crated this so we could take photos and then carefully put the nails back in the same holes they came out of when we re-crated it. As shown, this was shipped American Express and the sticker is dated Jan. 1911. Shipped from - T. M. Chapman's Sons Co. / Founders and Machinists / Old Town, ME. Shipped to - MacGregor Co. / S. Lincoln. This was the Stowell - MacGregor Mill and they made hardwood spools for thread companies. If you search the computer for
Stowell - MacGregor it is very interesting
reading.
The gear pattern has a 14 1/4" diameter and the teeth are 13/16" thick. The knob has a 2 1/4" diameter and is 15/16" thick. The original shipping crate measures 18" x 15 1/2" x 3".
A super neat and very unique item for you to add to your collection.
I believe we have a couple photos of a Stowell - MacGregor spool mill as well as a letterhead or two we will be listing when we come across them.
