I don't know what is around the rim and bottom base but I did get most of the stains on the
bottom
of the base off I just ran out of Mr. Clean magic eraser. So it does come off. I don't know what that stuff is on around the bottom of the hand right below the engraving of 1225/7.5 as you can see in the picture but I was able to remove some of it off but I didn't want to go to crazy and have it slip out of my hands and break. I know it comes off with a little bit of elbow grease which I don't have anymore with my age. Overall it's in really good condition. No cracks or crazing. Couple of small stains and marks but that is to be expected from its age.
