Vintage Industrial Wooden Foundry Mold 21" by 11" Deep Early 1900's

This great old foundry mold measures 21" across by 11" deep. It weighs 13 pounds. This wooden foundry mold is from the early 1900's. It came from the Carthage Foundry in Carthage Missouri. The foundry opened in 1872 and made all kinds of cast iron items, but specialized in the mining industry. The Carthage Foundry made most all of the iron for all mining South and West of Missouri. The foundry used these molds in a sand casting process to produce the items in cast iron. The molds were made by specially skilled craftsmen, whose precision woodworking, made perfect replicas of the cast iron piece that their customers requested. This foundry mold is a great old piece of American Industrial history, wonderful for industrial urban decor.
