Vintage Industrial Wood Pattern Large Housing Fire apparatus 13" dimaeter
Painted red, just coincidental that it a fire industry related pattern.
The company that contracted the part that this pattern was made for was in the fire apparatus industry, making fittings for fire trucks, hydrants etc
Specifically, I do not know what this was,  records are no longer available to identify it exactly.
I thought this might make a neat base for an upcycling project someone is working on.
Pattern is" approx 13" from outside knob to outside knob
Inside diameter hole is 7 3/8" at top tapering down to 6 3/8 at bottom.
6 1/2" deep.
Solid wood : either  Hondurus Mahogany and or pine . Painted red.
Today, there are almost no molds made anymore from wood.  They are either made from plastic stock or metal.
This mold  is from an age of days gone by, where most patterns were made from wood.
Pattern making is a  highly skilled trade that required a lot of handwork years ago, now most everything is made with CAD CAM machines.   Pattern making required often working within 5/1000ths of an inch, and was one of the highest paid trades.
My father is winding down his 50 year pattern industry business, and this came from his pattern archives.
This was an  original wood mold, my fathers' business was subcontracted by a  foundry to make this original mold.
My fathers' shop either painted all red, or left natural wood .
I packed these at the shop, they came out of  storage, we vacuumed them, removing lots of old sawdust and some grime, but they are still somewhat dirty,  I am mentioning this so that you do not open them up somewhere that you would not want dirty items on.

This will make a great wall decoration if you love industrial related items!
