Vintage Industrial Foundry Wooden Casting Mold PatternHand Crafted and Turned, Green Paint
Wood is in good condition and the dark green paint is mostly intact.
An interesting shape for what casting?
Maybe a bracket with a swivel.
Wooden sandcasting molds were used to produce an initial metal item which would be shaped further.
The pattern, in cast form, might be lathe-turned, filed, drilled, sanded and finished.
These days, 3-D printers are replacing some of the functions of this kind of very labor-intensive production.
Almost every shaped metal item used in all industries may have begun its life as a cast in a mold.
A few small dings and very attractive, as one might expect for over 3 score years of age.
