Very Old Senufo Metal Anklet Currency and Adornment
Known for a long time to be produced by the amazing Senufo peoples of West Africa.
These anklets are reported by many ethnographers as serving important ritual function used by diviners.
The antiquity of their production is unquestioned - some date to pre-19th century.
This anklet can reliably be dated at over 100 years old and are probably much older. Each is an individual as they are pour cast by the lost wax method and the mold is destroyed in
their creation.
It is approximately 7 inches
long.
They are not making these anymore and have become collectable Africana.
Bracelets like this were traded across countries
and tribes / used as money / given as tribute /
