    Description

For sale are 38 hand-made utility poles.  Made by me many years ago as a gift to my Father-in-Law for his 'O' Scale RR layout.  They are made to scale, comprised of: a set (13 ea) of shorter (25-1/2 - 28-1/2 feet tall), heavier poles often used along rural RR lines back in the day; a set (13 ea) of narrower, medium-height general-purpose electric poles (29-1/2 - 31 feet tall); and a set (12 ea) of taller "city poles" with double cross beams where the need for electricity was greatest. Each piece is a little different, hand-made, some have transformers attached, all have metal diagonal supports for the cross-beams.  A couple of them have circus posters attached as you might find in small towns in the last century.  Note the steel "climber" pegs driven into the sides of each to facilitate linemen's access for repairs -- not often seen on poles today since the popularization of "cherry-picker" trucks amongst utility companies.  I installed glass beads on each pole as insulators (not perfect representations, but not bad) - clear and aqua as those were the predominant colors used throughout mid-century America.  Each pole is equipped with a 1/4" spike out the bottom (see 5th picture) for mounting to your diorama base: they may be cut off if another method is preferred.  I'm throwing in a set of mounted Burma-Shave road-side signs for your diorama as well as two more sets unmounted for you to display as you wish. Also included is the "product description" I had written up & attached when I presented them(10th picture).
Great gift for that Railroad or Diorama enthusiast in your life!
These will not be shipped on the presentation board you see here.  They will each be carefully wrapped in tissue paper and packed carefully for safe delivery.  Alternatively, they may be picked up in person in Rolling Meadows, Illinois to save the shipping charges.
