Description
TemplateOriginal solid silver earrings
Striking shape with polyhedral ends and engraved abstract symbolic motifs. They were worn by Tuareg women with matching bracelets. The weight of these solid jewels indicates their function as reserve funds, they were indeed made by melting down old silver coins. In this regards it is rare to find pieces dating before 1970, the time of a terrible drought. Beautiful patina and special workmanship, true Tuareg pieces! They are so big and heavy that can be worn as bracelets on small wrists. Tuareg people, Niger, South Sahara, 1940 approx.
