Offered is a rare advertising piece from The Golden Rule Store in La Grande, Oregon.  This store was located in the Huntington Block.  The first advertisement I could find for them in the local paper was dated 1901.  The store closed within ten years.  This plate was likely produced prior to 1908.
The transferware design includes the storefront and reads Merry Xmas Happy New Year.  The plate measures 10 3/8" across and has a couple condition issues.  There's a very small, discolored chip along the back edge that can't be seen from the front.  There's also a 1" hairline on the back that's stained.  This is partially visible on the front edge of the plate around the 5 o'clock position.  There's overall crazing and craze stains.
