Scarce 1937 Shirley Temple Album 19-Print Portfolio from Holland & South Africa

Description

Scarce, original Shirley Temple Album portfolio issued in Holland and South Africa, containing 19 of its original 20 large lithograph prints and a biography in Dutch. The album is missing the lyrics to "The Good Ship Lollipop" as mentioned on the cover. This substantial item was distributed as a theatre souvenir in 1937-38.
Acceptable to good, used
condition with wear, small tears, roughness and a few small stains around the edges, spine and corners of the heavy textured paper wrap; the wrap has some fading of the blue color on the front flap; the back flap has a light, quarter-sized stain as shown (darker in the photo) and there are overall small pick marks on the glued-on image of Shirley and Buck the St. Bernard. The four-page biography is split into two sheets at the fold, and each of the heavy varnished litho prints has minor to moderate corner bumps (heaviest at the bottom corners). All the prints are blank on the back; some have small, faint initials penned on a back corner. There's slight yellowing of the varnish on the baby book, "Curly Top" daisy dress and bride prints; larger, shallow corner bends on the birthday, "Rebel" wagon, "Poor Little Rich Girl" coat and station prints; and small specks in the left side border of the lounge print. Some prints have small usage dents, most visible under direct light.
Print size is 9 1/2 x 12 1/2" with an overall album size of 9 3/4 x 12 3/4". It still displays very well. Even in used condition it's a great, HTF Shirley keepsake from the 1930s. Please see my other listings for more Shirley Temple items from my 40+ year collection.
