    Description

This is an image viewer, sometimes called a stanhope, which has a micropicture inside that is viewable when you hold it up to a light source.  It does not have an internal light, so it relies on being backlit.  These items have been around for more than 100 years.  You can find them made out of metal, bone, ivory, and plastic.  Some of them feature political photographs, some have travel pictures, like this one. Niagara Falls is a popular image, as are some churches in England, but I have never seen an image of Crater Lake in a stanhope being sold here on eBay.
The dimensions of this particular stanhope are 2.25" by 1.5" by1".  The sides are a teal colored plastic, while the end with the image is whitish (I'm somewhat colorblind, so please look at the pictures for accuracy).  It has a metal ball chain attached for use as a keychain. On one side in gold writing is the Xanterra Parks & Resorts word logo, and on the other side it reads, also in gold, "Crater Lake / National Park Lodges / CraterLakeLodges.com."
The photograph inside is of the lake itself, showing Wizard Island prominently.  The photograph has a copyright notice, but no year, identifying the photographer as Finley-Holiday Films.  Finley-Holiday Films has made travel films about US national parks and other domestic travel destinations for more than 50 years.
Back to Crater Lake, Wizard Island isa volcanic cinder cone which forms an island at the west end of Crater Lake in Crater Lake National Park, Oregon. The top of the island reaches 6,933 feet (2,113 m) above sea level, about 755 feet (230 m) above the average surface of the lake, which I believe is the deepest or second deepest lake in North America.
If you haven't been to Crater Lake in southern Oregon, you must go!  It is stunning.  And if you can stay at the Crater Lake Lodge, you will not be disappointed.
Crater Lake Lodge first opened in 1915. It was rebuilt between 1989 and 1995 to better withstand heavy snow loads.  It has 71 rooms, some of which overlook the lake at Rim Village.
This year, it will be open from May 14 through October 10, so buy this stanhope to get the kids excited about your trip!
I'll ship this item US Mail First Class promptly upon notice of receipt of payment from PayPal in a protective box, so you will receive this fun memento in no time (and certainly before yo take off for the Pacific Northwest).  If you live in Los Angeles, I'm happy to offer free pickup.  I don't use shipping as a profit center.
I've added a bunch of pictures and am happy to provide more.  Capturing the lake image itself is difficult, but I think I did a decent job. If you disagree, let me know and I'll try again.
