Old Foundry Rigged Wood Pattern Match plate Industrial Mold
Foundry used and rigged wood match plate.
Cast iron foundry riggings on ends.
Match plate overall: 22" by 18"
Circular pattern on one side is 13" in diameter. 3 1/2" tall from top of the  cylinder to  board base plate on that side.
Other side is 12 3/8" in diameter(the ring), ring is 1/4" tall, cleat is about 1" high.
Today, there are almost no molds made anymore from wood.  They are either made from plastic stock or metal.
This mold  is from an age of days gone by, where most patterns were made from wood.
Pattern making is a  highly skilled trade that required a lot of handwork years ago, now most everything is made with CAD CAM machines.   Pattern making required often working within 5/1000ths of an inch, and was one of the highest paid trades.
My father is winding down his 50 year pattern industry business, and this came from his pattern archives.
Specifically, I do not know what  this was for, it is old enough that records are no longer available to identify  it. It was for some large piece of machinery.
This was the original wood mold, my fathers' business was subcontracted by a  foundry to make this original mold.
Pattern parts made from mahogany,  painted red.   My fathers' shop either painted all red, or left natural wood .
I packed this at the shop, it came out of  storage, we vacuumed them, removing lots of old sawdust and some grime, but they are still somewhat dirty,  I am mentioning this so that you do not open them up somewhere that you would not want dirty items on.

Overall  very nice condition.
This will make a great wall decoration if you love industrial related items!
