    Description

    A nice group of four heavy metal currency cuffs/bracelets (one cuff and three bracelets) from the African Congo (Zaire). Probably bronze copper, or other heavy mixed metal, used as currency for trading between tribes. The two of the bracelets shows tribal designs incised, with light overall soiling and patina on all. They probably date to the 20th century. Dimensions: Cuff: 4 ¾” H x 4 ½” W, left bracelet: 4” W x 4 ¼” D; center bracelet: 1 ⅞” H x 4 1/2” W x 3 ¼” D; right bracelet: 1 ⅜” H x 4 ⅜” W x 3 ¾” D.
