Board mounted core plug Cherry Wood Pattern Foundry Casting Mold Great Looking!
Really neat wood pattern, pattern is solid cherry, mounted to a pine plywood board.
The board the pattern is mounted on,  is 1 foot square, 1" thick
Pattern is Overall 7 1/4" tall.  Cherry Pattern base is 8" square
Today, there are almost no molds made anymore from wood.  They are either made from plastic stock or metal.
This mold  is from an age of days gone by, where most patterns were made from wood.
Pattern making is a  highly skilled trade that required a lot of handwork years ago, now most everything is made with CAD CAM machines.   Pattern making required often working within 5/1000ths of an inch, and was one of the highest paid trades.
Approx 12" in diameter(protruding to 14 1/2", 6" high)
My father is winding down his 50 year pattern industry business, and this came from his pattern archives.
Specifically, I do not know what  this was for, it is old enough that records are no longer available to identify  it. It was for some large piece of machinery.
This was the original wood core made for the interior of a  mold, my fathers' business was subcontracted by a  foundry to make this original mold.
Made from solid solid cherry, pine plywood bord.
I packed this at the shop, it came out of  storage, it is dusty and has white foundry rmold release agent residue, it wipes off with water.   I am mentioning this so that you do not open them up somewhere that you would not want dirty items on.
