one of a kind
original decorative wood patterns was hand crafted by expert industrial craftsmen of yesteryear. The pattern maker was the
“artist”
of the industry. First was the dream, then the drawing (blue print), then the
wood pattern
, then the metal casting to be machined to the finished
product. The
wood pattern had to be made to strict tolerances else the finished product would be off thus scrapped. This is what makes these patterns so beautiful; they were made to precision the old fashioned timely way! They were not massed produced but
one of a kind!
This pattern was used in the foundry process to produce a
Stage Piston
.
Core boxes are use to produce hollow cavities in the Piston.
Casting will be Cast Iron. This pattern comes from a company with a history manufacturing
steam engines, and steam driven compressors.
Piston Core Boxes
are used on Steam Engines, Steam Driven Compressors and other drive types (Electric, Diesel, etc). Piston will move in the cylinder reciprocating manner in the cylinder. This one will compressor HCL gas.
Based on the part number this pattern dates back to 1971. Pattern is hard wood, most likely mahogany. Pattern is Approx. 13” Long x  7" wide x 3" high
Total weight for this decorative wood pattern is about 4 lbs.
