Antique Vintage Millinery Flower Leaf Cutter Trim Making Tool Metal Die Cut A52
I am excited to be able to offer you this milliner's antique tool.
It was used to cut fabric to make the leaves. To assist with the removal of the fabric piece from the cutter, a nail or similar piece of metal would be inserted into the cutter in the small hole on its face.The milliner would then put the cutter on one or perhaps a few layers of fabric and then pound on it with a padded mallet. The cutter would pierce the fabric creating the appropriate shape. Pressure was applied to the nail in the head of the cutter and it would pop out the newly-cut fabric petal or leaf.
The tool measures approximately 5 1/4" tall and the leaf shape it will create is 1 1/2" x 1 1/4". It is a heavy 1 pound 4 oz tool and is in very good condition. This cutter still can be used to create your own trims or it will be an excellent display piece.
