    HISTORY & DETAILS:
Family History and Noteworthy Facts: THIS IS A JEFFERSON ESTATE ITEM
Arthur Jefferson (1914-1998) & Rosemary Jefferson (1918-2017) were not only inseparable, they were truly a gift to the human race. They met on John Carradine's Boat when Arthur was a young Army Air Corp. Cadet while sailing to Catalina Island. The beginning of a successful 56 Years of Marriage began in 1942. Arthur was a consummate individual always caring and helping others through his passion for Teaching, Music, The Arts, Books and very giving of his personal time and attention to countless students during and after his 43 Year tenure with Dearborn Public Schools. He was also a flight instructor, during WWII, based in Roswell New Mexico. His passion for Art and Antiques also allowed him to earn the title "President" of Dearborn Historical Society, President of the Fine Arts Associates at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, Board Member of the Detroit Institute of Arts Antiquaries and Personal Friends with Fred Black,(The Director of Greenfield Village and close friend of Henry and Edsel Ford). Fred Black helped to build the collections at Greenfield Village for Mr. Ford and Arthur Jefferson acquired much of Fred Black's Estate including his Rare Book Collection among other fine antiques and highly collectible items.
Rosemary Jefferson was a perfect match for Arthur. She was very accomplished herself, after graduating college in Denver, Rosemary went west to work at Hollywood Canteen during WWII. After the were married and the War was over, Dearborn became their new home in 1945-46. Rosemary was very active and taught Sunday School at Christ Episcopal Church-Dearborn, was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, Enrolled in Eastern Michigan Normal College, with a Full Scholarship, Graduating with Honors and a Teaching Degree in 1958. Furhtermore she celebrated a 25 year Teaching Career in Dearborn Public Schools, leading up to her being honored by the World Convocation of Teachers. She also had a Private Meeting with John XXIII in Rome, 1960 and was a special guest of Queen Elizabeth for the opening of the Air Force Museum in Duxford England, 1997. Her Awards with the Dearborn Community Arts Council and the DIA are know widely by many. Both Arthur and Rosemary had a passion for the Arts and Antiquities which led them on a lifelong journey or travel, adventure and discovery. They could not have built so many different collections without the large number of dear friends and business people they met and treated like family over several decades.
We hope you appreciate their passion and this fine piece from their estate.
