    One-of-a-Kind
The stamped maker mark on this antique silver bangle, identifies it being made by Georg Scheid, who was based in Vienna around the 1880s when this bracelet was made. With a nicely sized silhouette for a bangle, this piece is dense and finely made with crisp details and a sturdy clasp. A gold wash highlights the repousse design and a small bale awaits your own special charm to dangle freely from it.
    Condition Guide
    Excellent.
This piece is fresh looking and must have been tucked away and well
taken care of, the signs of wear are noticeable only on close inspection.
The silver setting has a bright patina with minor surface wear and no dents or misshapen spots.
The vermeil finish is golden with light wear and thinning so it is not as bright and golden as it might have been originally.
Perhaps a charm was attached to this bracelet originally.
There are no other irregularities to the setting or signs of solder or repair and the piece has a firm shape.

    On Repousse
    .
Repousse is a technique used on metals that results in a three dimensional, sometimes hollow or open back design. The maker hammers the metal from one side, to form a three dimensional design on the other. Repousse dates from ancient civilizations yet the technique is found in a wide variety of fine jewelry even today.
    On Signed Designer Pieces.
A piece of jewelry that has been signed by the designer is immediately of higher value, because it definitively places the work in their oeuvre. This gives the piece a personal history that it might not otherwise have—fixed in place, time, style, and intent. In addition, signed designer pieces indicate that a designer viewed the work as worthy enough to want his or her name to be forever associated with it. This indicates that the piece was made with a concentration on high-quality construction or perhaps trendy or progressive design.
