2 Wood Patterns Hydraulic Valve Body Foundry Precision Casting Molds 12" x 7

Solid Mahogany pattern molds
Approx 12" by 9", One is 4" high, the other is 2 1/4" high(at the highest point)
Together these solid molds weigh 7 pounds.
These were the molds to make aluminum precision castings, which then were the molds used in the foundry to cast the metal parts.
Condition: Very nice, they have a little bit of  white mold release agent(wipes off with water) . One chip on top edge of the one mold.
Today, there are almost no molds made anymore from wood.  They are either made from plastic stock or metal.
This mold set  is from an age of days gone by, where most patterns were made from wood.
Pattern making is a  highly skilled trade that required a lot of handwork years ago, now most everything is made with CAD CAM machines.   Pattern making required often working within 5/1000ths of an inch, and was one of the highest paid trades.
My father is winding down his 50 year pattern industry business, and this came from his pattern archives.
This was the original wood mold that  my fathers' business was subcontracted by a  foundry to make this original mold.
Mold is painted red.   My fathers' shop either painted all red, or left natural wood
