    Offered for your consideration is this Antique OLD " J. P. COOKE CO. OMAHA" Pierced Metal Hand-Held Stenciled Number Sign 0-9 with a Wooden Handle. This company started business in 1897 & they are still in business yet today, with making all sorts of signs, labeling items, business related products etc. This particular primitive sign could have been used in various ways, but usually these were used to paint a number(s) on top of a wood barrel for Identification purposes. It looks neat hanging on a plain wall that is all white or all black also...really makes the numbers stand out. It was purchased with the items we bought from the old early 1900's Schwenk Brewery that was located in Yankton, SD.  These pierced signs are not common items to find & this stencil has a 9-5/8" diameter and I think it is made of a very thin metal...perhaps zinc? It has minor scuffing & bends and we've left it as-is...did not try to clean it in any way. We purchased some of these from a collector, & we have more we hope to list shortly.
